Ø Establishing good governance through infrastructure development, creation of skilled human resources, creation of decent work and establishing of e-services by ensuring optional utilization in the IT Sector.
Strategic Purpose:
Ø 1. To create high speed electronic connection system up to the lowest level of the country.
Ø 2. To create appropriate infrastructure for the purpose of providing information and communication technology related services across the country.
Ø 3. Co-ordination of information and communication technology related activities at government and private levels.
Ø 4. The purpose of providing uninterrupted services from information and communication technology related infrastructure are effective maintenance.
Ø 5. Creation of ICT Services with the aim of creating skilled information and communication Technology professionals at the government level.
Ø 6. Increase the capacity of trained manpower for fast changing technology.
Ø 7. Expansion of information and communication technology knowledge at all levels of government and people.
Ø 8. Preparation of laws, policies, guidelines and standardization related to information and communication Technology.
Ø 9. Creation and maintenance of interoperability in the practical field of ICT services and products.
Ø 10. Provide overall support for research, innovation and application of ever-new technologies.
Functions:
l 1. To provide technical assistance for implementation of e-governance activities in government departments;
l 2. Ensuring and co-ordinating the use and application of ICT at all level of government;
l 3. To provide support, maintenance and support for the creation of appropriate ICT infrastructure in all department at the field level;
l 4. Transfer of technical and specialized knowledge of information technology at all levels;
l 5. Formulation and implementation of policies to improve the equality of manpower related to information technology;
l 6. Initiatives to provide services to the people electronically up to the grassroots level;
l 7. Ensuring ICT related equipment, software, connectivity, standards and inter-operability;
l 8. To Provide research, development and support for the adoption of modern technology at all levels;
l 9. Help to inspire ICT education and build a digital Bangladesh;
l 10. Assist in business development in IT sector by identifying obstacles and challenges in business development in IT sector;
l 11. Human resource development through ICT training;
l 12. Equalization in the use and maintenance of computer equipment at the field level, especially in computer labs set up in educational institutions and other government institutions;
l 13. To Provide technical support for the maintenance and upkeep of web portals and networks in all government departments at the field level;
And
l 14. To assist in providing, storing, updating, web portal of appropriate information in digital centers already established at district/upazila/union level;
